Want to meet a boat builder in the middle of Middlesbrough? Or a boat’s captain on the River Tees?

What do children know about the industry and businesses that are closely linked to the River? Having such a huge and important geographical asset, the deepest port on the East Coast, has allowed lots of companies to grow and prosper. 

Where larger companies thrive, smaller companies and organisations also emerge. This resource is designed to raise awareness of different companies and organisations whose work is related to the river. We meet some of the faces behind the company gate and get an idea of what they do all day. We also get to see behind the scenes into the office spaces where each person works to raise awareness of the world of work in the Tees Valley.

The map has five company videos embedded in it:

Each video is short and allows an employee from each company to talk about the work that they do and why they like doing their role. They are presented by children to reinterpret the information given by the adults into an accessible resource for Primary schools.
