Our focus this year is on marine plastics and, more specifically, plastic bottles. As the litter dropped in or around the Tees could end up at the coast we want to work to reduce the amount finding its way to the sea. We all have heard at some point how damaging marine plastics can be and we hope that this event can both to reduce the amount of plastic that the River Tees is transporting out to sea, and raise awareness for the plight of animals - both on our coastline and around the world. This year we will be separating out any plastic waste found and a prize will be awarded to the litter pick that collects the most plastic bottles!
The attached information pack gives you everything you need to register and plan your litter pick as part of the Tees Tidy Up. Litter picks will be taking place throughout the River Tees Rediscovered Partnership area, so if there are any sites that you think need attention let us know and we can organise a pick there!
Tees Tidy Up 2017 involved 253 volunteers picking over 400 bags of rubbish! We want Tees Tidy Up 2018 to be even bigger and better than last year, so get in touch and plan your pick now!
