River Tees on Film - Floating Cinema

  • Castlegate Quay TS18 3BB (map)

Join us on this unique one-off event – cruise the River Tees aboard the iconic Teesside Princess whilst watching the river and Teesside’s past flow by on the silver screen. With an archive film show put together especially for the event by North East Film Archive and a chance to find out what is happening on the river now from River Tees Rediscovered, this is going to be an interesting, entertaining and lively event. With a licensed bar which will also be serving teas, coffees and cakes there will be time to enjoy the river journey and reflect on the how Teesside has changed over the last century and where it might be heading in the future.

Featuring Teesside’s industrial heritage, its towns and down to the coast, River Tees on Film will take you on a visual journey through the history of the people and places of Teesside and the Tees caught on celluloid over the last century while we travel from Stockton up river to Yarm and down to the Tees Barrage aboard the Teesside Princess.

Selected from North East Film Archive's remarkable collection of films, this specially curated, entertaining, film show reveals a fascinating portrait of the area. From home movies, local documentaries and Tyne Tees Television productions, the films capture the changing landscape, industries, sights, sounds, faces and places of Teesside and the River Tees.

This event is brought to you as part of NEFA’s North East on Film project, connecting the people and communities of the region with their film heritage, through special screenings and events and online activities. The project is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The River Tees Rediscovered Landscape Partnership is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
